Job Description

Join United Parcel Service (UPS) as a Speech Assistant within our Educational Support team in Pomona, CA. In this vital role, you will work under the direct supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or designated educator to provide essential support to individuals requiring speech and language services. This position is ideal for an organized, compassionate, and dedicated individual eager to contribute to an educational environment and facilitate communication development. You will assist in implementing therapy plans, preparing materials, and documenting progress, making a tangible difference in the lives of those you support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and educators in implementing speech and language therapy plans as directed.
  • Prepare and organize therapy materials, resources, and equipment for individual and group sessions.
  • Support individuals during therapy sessions, ensuring engagement and adherence to planned activities.
  • Document observational data regarding individual performance and progress during therapy activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and supportive therapy environment.
  • Communicate effectively with SLPs, educators, and other team members regarding individual needs and progress.
  • Adhere to all confidentiality guidelines and ethical standards in providing support services.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required to enhance skills and knowledge.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately
  • Basic computer proficiency (e.g., G Suite, Microsoft Office)
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) program, Education, or related field
  • Previous experience working with children or individuals with communication disorders in an educational or therapeutic setting
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is a plus
  • Knowledge of various communication strategies and assistive technology
