Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and driven Venture Capital Principal to join our dynamic investment team in Greenville, SC. This pivotal role involves leading investment opportunities from sourcing to execution, managing portfolio companies, and contributing significantly to our overall investment strategy. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of various technology sectors, a strong financial acumen, and a proven track record in venture capital or private equity. This position is open to candidates requiring sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and evaluate new investment opportunities across various technology sectors, conducting thorough due diligence.
- Lead deal execution, including financial modeling, valuation, term sheet negotiation, and legal documentation.
- Provide strategic support and guidance to portfolio companies, working closely with their management teams to accelerate growth and achieve milestones.
- Monitor portfolio company performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and preparing regular reports for internal stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with entrepreneurs, co-investors, industry experts, and other key ecosystem players.
- Represent Goldman Sachs at industry conferences and events, enhancing our brand and expanding our network.
- Contribute to fundraising efforts and investor relations activities as required.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in venture capital, private equity, corporate development, or investment banking.
- Demonstrated ability to source, evaluate, and execute investment deals.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Deep understanding of technology trends and various industry verticals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a highly collaborative team.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree from a top-tier institution.
- Experience managing a portfolio of investments and working directly with startup founders.
- Established network within the venture capital or startup ecosystem.
- Proficiency in additional languages relevant to global investment markets.
