Job Description
Kaiser Permanente is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioral Health Music Lead to join our interdisciplinary team in Downey, CA. This role focuses on the clinical application of music therapy within our behavioral health services, providing leadership, direct patient care, and program development. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing and delivering evidence-based music interventions, supervising junior therapists, and contributing to a stable and supportive clinical environment aimed at improving patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of evidence-based music therapy programs for diverse behavioral health populations.
- Provide direct individual and group music therapy sessions, assessing patient needs and tailoring interventions.
- Supervise and mentor junior music therapists and interns, ensuring adherence to clinical standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to integrate music therapy into comprehensive treatment plans.
- Conduct ongoing program evaluation and contribute to research initiatives in behavioral health music therapy.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training, and professional development activities.
Required Skills
- Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) credential.
- Master's degree in Music Therapy or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of post-certification clinical experience in behavioral health settings.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of various music therapy models and their application in mental health.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in clinical documentation and electronic health records (EHR).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific behavioral health populations (e.g., adolescents, substance use disorder, severe mental illness).
- Additional certifications in related therapeutic modalities.
- Experience in program development and evaluation.
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish).
