Job Description
Join Granite School District as a School Nurse (K-12) and make a vital impact on the health and safety of our student population. This full-time position offers the unique advantage of aligning with the academic calendar, providing predictable time off during summer and winter breaks. You’ll play a crucial role in promoting a healthy school environment, managing student health needs, and serving as a health resource for students, staff, and parents. We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse who is dedicated to pediatric health and public health principles within an educational setting. This role also includes participation in the state pension system, offering excellent long-term security.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care and first aid to students and staff in emergencies.
- Assess student health needs, develop individualized health plans, and administer medications as prescribed.
- Conduct health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis) and referrals.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student health records.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and healthcare providers to manage chronic health conditions.
- Promote health education and wellness initiatives within the school community.
- Assist in the prevention and control of communicable diseases.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal health regulations for schools.
- Act as a health resource and consultant for school staff and administration.
Required Skills
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Utah.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of pediatric nursing and public health principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate medical records and using health information systems.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Experience in a school health setting or pediatric nursing.
- Certification as a School Nurse (CSN).
- Knowledge of state and federal guidelines pertaining to school health programs.
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish) to support our diverse student population.
