Job Description

We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Deck Building Lumber Carrier to join our outdoor construction team in New Haven. This is an essential entry-level role perfect for individuals who are physically fit, enjoy working outdoors, and are eager to learn the fundamentals of deck construction. You will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving lumber and other building materials around job sites, ensuring our skilled carpenters have what they need to build high-quality decks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely lift, carry, and transport various types of lumber and building materials across construction sites.
  • Organize and stack materials in designated areas to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assist skilled carpenters and other team members with material staging and general labor tasks.
  • Load and unload delivery trucks as needed, verifying material counts and quality.
  • Follow all safety protocols and company guidelines meticulously to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report any issues.
  • Perform general site cleanup and debris removal.
  • Work collaboratively with the construction team to meet project deadlines.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 75 lbs) repeatedly throughout the day.
  • Strong physical stamina and endurance for working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent work ethic and a commitment to punctuality and reliability.
  • Basic understanding of construction site safety practices.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • No prior experience required; we provide on-the-job training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a physical labor role or outdoor work environment.
  • Familiarity with different types of lumber and building materials.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites.
