Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Kale & Spinach Pickers to join our organic farm operations near Glasgow. This essential role involves the careful hand-picking, sorting, and preparation of organic kale and spinach, ensuring the highest quality standards are met for our discerning customers. You will work outdoors in a dynamic farm environment, contributing directly to our mission of providing fresh, healthy, and ethically produced food.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carefully hand-pick kale and spinach from fields according to strict quality guidelines and specifications.
  • Inspect produce for quality, freshness, and absence of damage or pests.
  • Efficiently sort and pack harvested produce into appropriate containers.
  • Adhere to all food safety and hygiene protocols at all times.
  • Operate basic farm equipment safely (e.g., trolleys, small carts) as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area within the fields and packing sheds.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and farm supervisors to meet daily targets.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with other general farm duties as needed during peak seasons.

Required Skills

  • Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of food safety principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in agricultural work, particularly in horticulture or vegetable farming.
  • Knowledge of organic farming principles and practices.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to personal transport (due to farm location).
  • Enthusiasm for fresh produce and sustainable farming.
