Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and reliable Medical Specimen Porter to join our laboratory logistics team. This is an entry-level position perfect for individuals eager to start a career in healthcare support. As a Medical Specimen Porter, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transport of medical specimens, laboratory samples, and other vital materials between various departments and laboratories within the hospital trust. Your role is crucial in ensuring that diagnostic processes run smoothly, directly impacting patient care and treatment timelines. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for those with no prior experience in a similar role but who possess a strong work ethic and commitment to accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and promptly transport medical specimens, samples, and other laboratory items throughout the hospital sites.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, including infection control and specimen handling protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of specimen movements and deliveries, ensuring proper chain of custody.
- Communicate effectively with laboratory staff, clinical teams, and other colleagues.
- Operate and maintain transport equipment as required.
- Report any anomalies, breakages, or delays in specimen transport immediately.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and organised working environment.
