Job Description

Vets4Pets Colchester is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate individual to join our team as a Veterinary Care Assistant. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for someone who loves animals and is eager to learn, as full training will be provided. You will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinary surgeons and nurses, ensuring the comfort and well-being of our patients, and contributing to the smooth running of our busy practice. No prior experience is necessary, just a genuine desire to care for animals and a willingness to learn and grow within our supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinary surgeons and nurses with patient handling and restraint during examinations and procedures.
- Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of kennels, patient wards, and consultation rooms.
- Prepare surgical equipment and ensure the readiness of operating theatres.
- Provide comfort and support to animals before, during, and after treatments.
- Monitor animal recovery and report any changes to the veterinary team.
- Assist with laboratory sample preparation and basic diagnostic tests.
- Sterilize instruments and maintain equipment.
- Administer medication under direct supervision of a vet or nurse.
- Maintain accurate patient records.
- Support reception duties as needed, including answering phones and greeting clients.
