Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Radiochemist with a strong focus on nuclear energy to join our cutting-edge research and development team in Manhattan. This critical role involves advanced radiochemical analysis, material characterization, and process optimization for next-generation nuclear energy systems. The ideal candidate will contribute to developing safer, more efficient, and sustainable nuclear technologies. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex radiochemical analyses on various nuclear materials and waste forms.
  • Develop and optimize radiochemical separation techniques and analytical methods.
  • Characterize irradiated fuels, coolants, and structural materials using advanced instrumentation (e.g., alpha, beta, gamma spectrometry, ICP-MS).
  • Contribute to the design and execution of experiments for nuclear fuel cycle research and reactor material studies.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, radiation protection standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, prepare comprehensive reports, and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nuclear engineers, materials scientists, and physicists.
  • Participate in the development of new nuclear technologies and advanced reactor concepts.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in Radiochemistry, Nuclear Chemistry, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in radiochemical analysis within a nuclear energy or related research environment.
  • Proficiency in various radiochemical separation techniques and radioanalytical instrumentation.
  • Strong understanding of nuclear physics, radiation detection, and radiation safety principles.
  • Demonstrated experience with handling radioactive materials and working in shielded or glovebox environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-doctoral experience in nuclear energy research.
  • Experience with advanced reactor concepts (e.g., SMRs, Gen IV reactors).
  • Knowledge of nuclear forensics or environmental radiochemistry.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks for nuclear materials and waste management.
  • Proven track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
