Job Description
Are you a high school student with a passion for pets and looking for a meaningful part-time job? PetSmart in Albuquerque is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Pet Groomer Aide to join our weekend animal care team. This entry-level position is perfect for someone eager to learn about professional pet grooming, provide compassionate animal handling, and support our experienced groomers. Key Responsibilities
- Assist professional pet groomers with various tasks, including bathing, drying, and brushing pets.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of grooming stations, tools, and general salon areas.
- Comfort and reassure pets throughout the grooming process, ensuring a positive experience.
- Handle pets safely and securely, following all company safety protocols.
- Prepare pets for grooming by brushing out coats and trimming nails as directed.
- Help with administrative tasks such as checking in/out pets and scheduling appointments.
- Communicate effectively with pet parents regarding their pet's visit and care.
- Support the overall salon operations to ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Learn and adhere to all company policies and procedures related to animal care and safety.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in high school or recently graduated.
- Genuine love for animals and a compassionate approach to their care.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic and reliability, especially for weekend shifts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working with various dog and cat breeds and temperaments.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work as part of a team.
- Must be at least 16 years old to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with animal care (e.g., pet ownership, volunteering at a shelter).
- Basic knowledge of pet behavior and handling techniques.
- Availability to work consistently on Saturdays and Sundays.
