Job Description

Are you a passionate guitarist with a knack for teaching beginners? School of Rock Thornton is seeking an enthusiastic Part-Time Guitar Instructor to guide new students on their musical journey. In this role, you will teach fundamental guitar techniques, music theory, and performance skills to young and adult learners. This position emphasizes creating an encouraging and dynamic learning experience, focusing on basic chords, scales, rhythm, and introductory songs. Weekly pay is provided for all instruction hours. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective guitar lessons to beginner students of all ages.
  • Develop individualized lesson plans focusing on fundamental guitar techniques, basic music theory, and ear training.
  • Teach proper instrument care and maintenance.
  • Introduce students to a variety of musical styles suitable for beginners.
  • Motivate and encourage students to practice and progress.
  • Communicate student progress and areas for improvement to parents/guardians as needed.
  • Maintain a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in occasional staff meetings or training sessions.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in playing acoustic and electric guitar.
  • Strong understanding of basic music theory (chords, scales, rhythm).
  • Ability to teach fundamental guitar techniques (strumming, fingerpicking, fretting).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience and enthusiasm for working with beginner students of all ages.
  • Reliable and punctual.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience teaching guitar, even informal (e.g., tutoring friends, family).
  • Experience with performance or band settings.
  • Music education background or coursework.
  • Ability to teach other instruments (e.g., bass, ukulele) is a plus.
