Job Description

Are you passionate about public policy and eager to contribute to impactful research and analysis? Deloitte is seeking a highly motivated Policy Analyst Trainee to join our dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity for individuals with little to no prior experience to kickstart their career in policy analysis within a world-renowned professional services firm. As a trainee, you will gain hands-on experience in research, data analysis, policy brief development, and client engagement, all while working 100% remotely. You’ll be mentored by experienced professionals and contribute to projects that shape policy decisions across various sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research on relevant policy issues using a variety of sources.
  • Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Contribute to the drafting of policy briefs, reports, presentations, and other communication materials.
  • Support senior analysts in client meetings and workshops, taking detailed notes and contributing ideas.
  • Monitor policy developments and legislative changes at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Participate in team discussions and brainstorming sessions to develop innovative solutions.
  • Learn and apply various analytical frameworks and methodologies to policy challenges.
  • Maintain organized project documentation and research repositories.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, Sociology, or a related field.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with an ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • High level of curiosity and a strong desire to learn about public policy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS, Stata) or data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
  • Prior experience with academic research or coursework in policy analysis.
  • Demonstrated interest in specific policy areas (e.g., healthcare, education, environmental policy, technology policy).
  • Familiarity with government structures and legislative processes.
