Job Description

The Department of Chemistry at The University of Kansas invites applications for a Chemistry Faculty/Lecturer position with potential for stable tenure. This role involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, conducting research, mentoring students, and contributing to departmental and university service. We seek a dynamic educator and researcher committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment and making significant contributions to their field of chemistry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach a range of undergraduate and graduate chemistry courses, including lectures, recitations, and laboratory sessions.
  • Develop and update course curricula to reflect current advancements in chemistry.
  • Conduct independent research, publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, and present at conferences.
  • Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students in their academic and research pursuits.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities, including committee work and program development.
  • Contribute to grant writing and secure external funding for research projects.
  • Maintain an active and visible presence within the scientific community.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated excellence in university-level teaching.
  • Proven record of scholarly research and publications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postdoctoral research experience.
  • Experience in securing external research grants.
  • Expertise in a specialized area of chemistry that complements existing departmental strengths (e.g., analytical, physical, organic, inorganic, biochemistry).
  • Experience with innovative pedagogical methods and technologies.
