Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Route Sales Representative to join our team in Shawnee, Kansas. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for driving a box truck to deliver food products and supplies to a diverse customer base, while also actively engaging in sales activities to grow your assigned route. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a passion for building lasting customer relationships. You will manage your own route, ensuring timely deliveries, accurate order fulfillment, and identifying new sales opportunities. Compensation includes a competitive base salary plus commission, rewarding your sales efforts and dedication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a box truck safely and efficiently to deliver food products and supplies to customers on a designated route.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers, understanding their needs and ensuring high satisfaction.
  • Actively seek out and secure new business opportunities within the assigned territory to expand sales.
  • Present and sell new products, promotions, and services to customers.
  • Manage inventory on the truck, process orders accurately, and handle cash or credit transactions.
  • Load and unload products, verifying product counts and condition against invoices.
  • Resolve customer inquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Adhere to all company policies, DOT regulations, and safety standards.
  • Complete daily route sheets, delivery logs, and sales reports accurately.
  • Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance checks of the company vehicle.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience operating a box truck or similar commercial vehicle.
  • Proven sales experience, preferably in a route sales or direct sales environment.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy products (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly throughout the day.
  • Basic math and computer literacy for order processing and reporting.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Business, Sales, or a related field.
  • Experience in the food service or distribution industry.
  • Familiarity with the Shawnee, Kansas area and surrounding territories.
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack and hand truck.
