Job Description

Are you looking for an opportunity to launch a rewarding career in healthcare? CVS Pharmacy is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Pharmacy Technician Trainees in Santa Maria, CA. No prior experience is required – we are looking for candidates eager to learn, grow, and contribute to our mission of improving community health. As a trainee, you will receive comprehensive, hands-on training to develop the skills necessary to become a certified Pharmacy Technician, all while earning a competitive wage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete all required training modules and on-the-job instruction to prepare for Pharmacy Technician certification.
  • Assist pharmacists in dispensing prescription medications, ensuring accuracy and patient safety.
  • Process prescription orders, including data entry and insurance billing under pharmacist supervision.
  • Provide excellent customer service, answering patient questions and addressing concerns with empathy and professionalism.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment in the pharmacy.
  • Manage pharmacy inventory, including stocking shelves and processing returns.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with pharmacists, patients, and other healthcare professionals.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Strong desire to learn and develop a career in the medical field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • A commitment to patient care and confidentiality
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service role
  • Familiarity with medical terminology (a plus, but not required)
  • Bilingual skills (especially Spanish) are highly valued
