Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Yard Spotter to join our team in Pasco, WA. This role is crucial for maintaining the efficient flow of trailers within our yard operations. As a Yard Spotter, you will be responsible for moving trailers between docks, parking areas, and maintenance bays, all within the confines of our secure facility. This position requires no road work, focusing solely on yard management with a static shift roster, ensuring predictability and stability in your work schedule. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently move trailers (53-foot dry vans, reefers, etc.) within the yard to designated dock doors, parking spots, or maintenance areas.
- Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections on spotter trucks and trailers, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, dock supervisors, and other team members using two-way radio or other communication devices.
- Ensure accurate placement of trailers at loading/unloading docks to facilitate efficient operations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor yard capacity and trailer inventory, contributing to overall yard efficiency.
- Assist with minor maintenance checks on spotter equipment as needed.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Ability to operate a yard spotter truck safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations pertaining to yard operations (non-road specific).
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical ability to climb in and out of equipment, and perform pre-trip inspections.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Yard Spotter or Trailer Mover.
- Experience with various types of trailers (dry van, reefer, flatbed).
- Familiarity with yard management systems or dispatch software.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
