Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Medicinal Chemist to join our dynamic drug discovery team. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for designing, synthesizing, and optimizing novel small molecules to address unmet medical needs. You will lead drug discovery projects, mentor junior scientists, and contribute significantly to our pipeline of innovative therapeutics. This position requires a strong background in synthetic organic chemistry, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proven track record in medicinal chemistry.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead medicinal chemistry efforts on drug discovery projects, driving compound design and optimization strategies.
- Design and execute multi-step organic syntheses of complex target molecules, ensuring high quality and efficiency.
- Analyze SAR data, ADME properties, and pharmacokinetic profiles to guide compound design and selection.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with biologists, pharmacologists, computational chemists, and other scientific disciplines.
- Mentor and develop junior chemists, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and innovation.
- Present research findings effectively at team meetings, project reviews, and external conferences.
- Stay current with scientific literature and new technologies in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery.
- Contribute to the intellectual property portfolio by identifying and preparing patent applications.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry with at least 8 years of relevant industry experience.
- Extensive experience in the design, synthesis, and optimization of small molecules for drug discovery.
- Strong expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, reaction mechanism, and modern synthetic methodologies.
- Proficiency in analyzing complex spectroscopic data (NMR, MS, IR) to confirm compound structures.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor scientific staff.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to present scientific data effectively.
- Deep understanding of SAR, ADME, pharmacokinetics, and drug metabolism principles.
- Proficiency with medicinal chemistry design tools and databases.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postdoctoral experience in medicinal chemistry or a related field.
- Experience in a specific therapeutic area such as oncology, neuroscience, or infectious diseases.
- Track record of scientific publications and patent contributions.
- Familiarity with computational chemistry tools for lead optimization.
- Experience working in a GMP environment.
