Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Online UPS Specialist with a strong focus on Data Integrity to join our Pasco team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous optimization of our Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems to ensure the highest level of data integrity and availability. You will work within a fast-paced environment, requiring acute attention to detail and a proactive approach to prevent power-related issues that could impact critical operations. This position requires hands-on expertise with various UPS technologies, a deep understanding of power distribution, and a commitment to maintaining rigorous operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, inspections, and functional tests on all Online UPS systems and associated power distribution units (PDUs).
  • Monitor UPS system performance, alarms, and logs to identify potential issues proactively and ensure continuous operation and data integrity.
  • Respond to and troubleshoot UPS system failures, alarms, and performance degradation, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions promptly.
  • Install, configure, and commission new UPS equipment and battery banks according to manufacturer specifications and site requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, configurations, and system changes in the designated management systems.
  • Collaborate with IT and facilities teams to ensure seamless integration of UPS systems with data center infrastructure and operational protocols.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for UPS management and emergency response.
  • Conduct battery capacity testing and replacement as needed, ensuring optimal battery health and runtime.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians and other departments regarding UPS operations and best practices.
  • Stay current with the latest UPS technologies, industry best practices, and relevant safety standards.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with Online UPS systems (single-phase and three-phase).
  • Strong understanding of electrical power principles, including AC/DC circuits, power distribution, and grounding.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical and electronic components of UPS systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Experience with battery management, including testing, maintenance, and replacement.
  • Familiarity with data center environments and critical infrastructure operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration and technical reporting.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or a related field.
  • Certifications from major UPS manufacturers (e.g., Vertiv, Eaton, Schneider Electric, APC).
  • Experience with critical power monitoring and management software.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as TIA-942, Uptime Institute, or relevant electrical codes.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
