Job Description
Are you looking for an active weekend role that offers a great workout while contributing to beautiful green spaces? idverde UK is seeking a dedicated Turf Layer Assistant to join our Southampton team. This physically engaging position is perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is reliable, and eager to learn. You’ll play a crucial role in preparing sites and laying turf, helping to transform and maintain vibrant landscapes across various projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of ground for turf laying, including clearing debris, levelling, and soil conditioning.
- Help unload, transport, and lay turf rolls efficiently and correctly.
- Follow precise instructions to ensure turf is laid to specified standards and patterns.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety guidelines.
- Operate and maintain basic hand tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Work collaboratively with the team to complete projects on schedule.
- Support senior turf layers and groundskeepers as needed.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and kneeling.
- Strong work ethic and reliability, especially for weekend shifts.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- A team player with good communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to various site conditions.
- Punctuality and a positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in landscaping, construction, or a similar outdoor manual role.
- Basic knowledge of turf laying techniques or grounds maintenance.
- Full UK driving licence (desirable, but not essential).
- An interest in horticulture or environmental care.
