Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Hazmat/Tanker Specialist to join our chemical logistics team in Pasco, WA. This critical role involves the safe and efficient transport of hazardous materials in tanker vehicles, ensuring strict adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations. The specialist will be responsible for the loading, transportation, and unloading of various chemical products, maintaining detailed documentation, and upholding the highest standards of safety and compliance in all operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate tanker trucks for the safe transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals to various client sites.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, documenting any deficiencies.
  • Ensure proper loading and unloading procedures are followed, including connection/disconnection of hoses and adherence to transfer protocols.
  • Maintain accurate logs, records, and manifest documentation in accordance with DOT, EPA, and company policies.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations involving hazardous materials, following established safety protocols and incident management plans.
  • Conduct routine safety checks and maintain all required certifications and endorsements (CDL Class A, Hazmat, Tanker).
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding delivery schedules and potential issues.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations.

Required Skills

  • CDL Class A driver's license with Hazmat (H) and Tanker (N) endorsements.
  • Minimum 3 years of verifiable commercial driving experience with tanker operations.
  • Clean driving record (MVR) with no major violations.
  • Thorough understanding of DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations pertaining to hazardous materials transportation.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, climbing, and operating equipment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safety and ability to follow strict safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with specific chemical types or bulk liquid transfers.
  • OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour certification for General Industry or Construction.
  • Advanced training in emergency response or hazardous waste operations (HAZWOPER).
  • Proficiency with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and transportation management systems (TMS).
