Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate UPS Chiropody Assistant with a specific focus on elderly care to join our expanding team in Austin, TX. In this vital role, you will support our podiatrists in providing high-quality foot care services to senior patients within various care settings, including clinics, assisted living facilities, and home visits. This position requires a gentle demeanor, excellent organizational skills, and a genuine commitment to improving the comfort and mobility of our elderly clients. You will play a crucial part in preparing patients, sterilizing instruments, assisting during procedures, and maintaining detailed patient records, ensuring a smooth and supportive experience for those under our care.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments according to established protocols.
- Assist chiropodists/podiatrists during examinations and minor procedures.
- Provide gentle and empathetic support to elderly patients, ensuring their comfort throughout visits.
- Educate patients and caregivers on basic foot hygiene and post-procedure care under the guidance of a podiatrist.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, including appointment scheduling and follow-ups.
- Manage inventory of supplies and order new stock as needed.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for all patients and staff.
- Assist with administrative tasks as required, such as billing and appointment reminders.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, particularly those related to elderly care.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a healthcare support role, preferably with exposure to elderly patients.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for record-keeping.
- Understanding of medical terminology and sterile techniques.
- Physical ability to assist patients with mobility issues and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant, Podiatric Medical Assistant, or equivalent.
- Previous experience specifically in chiropody or podiatry clinics.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Knowledge of common foot conditions affecting the elderly.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
