Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Lubricants Specialist Chemist to join our research and development team, focusing specifically on the automotive sector. This stable role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the formulation, testing, and improvement of high-performance lubricants that meet the evolving demands of modern vehicles. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving innovation, ensuring product quality, and providing technical support for our cutting-edge lubricant solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and optimization of new lubricant formulations for automotive applications, including engine oils, transmission fluids, and greases.
  • Conduct comprehensive laboratory testing of lubricant prototypes, utilizing advanced analytical techniques to evaluate performance characteristics (e.g., viscosity, wear protection, oxidation stability, thermal stability).
  • Analyze test data, interpret results, and prepare detailed technical reports and presentations for internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, manufacturing, quality control, and sales, to ensure seamless product launch and technical support.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes in the automotive and lubricants sectors.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues and provide expert technical assistance for existing products and customer inquiries.
  • Participate in pilot plant and scale-up activities to transition new formulations from laboratory to commercial production.
  • Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment, adhering to all company safety protocols and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in lubricant formulation and testing, specifically within the automotive sector.
  • Strong understanding of lubricant additives, base oils, and their interactions.
  • Proficiency with analytical laboratory instruments relevant to lubricant analysis (e.g., FTIR, GC, ICP, viscometers, rheometers).
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a data-driven approach to experimental design and analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience with engine dynamometer testing and field trial data interpretation.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and specifications (e.g., API, ACEA, JASO, OEM specifications).
  • Project management experience in a research and development setting.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis software.
