Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Correctional Facility Pharmacy Tech to join our team in a secure correctional setting in Wichita, Kansas. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate and timely dispensing of medications to patients within the facility, adhering to strict security protocols and healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess strong organizational skills, and be dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all state and federal regulations.
  • Manage and maintain pharmaceutical inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating medications.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and assist with audits to prevent discrepancies and waste.
  • Process prescription orders, verify patient information, and accurately label medication containers.
  • Maintain patient profiles and records, ensuring confidentiality and data integrity.
  • Assist pharmacists with medication reconciliation and resolve basic medication-related issues.
  • Ensure all pharmaceutical waste is disposed of properly according to established guidelines.
  • Adhere to strict security protocols and correctional facility policies at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals within the facility.

Required Skills

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification
  • Current state Pharmacy Technician license/registration in Kansas
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation and dispensing
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a secure, correctional environment
  • Proficiency with pharmacy software systems and basic computer applications
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, generic and brand names, and drug dosages
  • Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality and security protocols

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a hospital, long-term care, or correctional facility pharmacy setting
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems specific to healthcare
  • Knowledge of controlled substance regulations and handling procedures
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure
