Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Cattery Assistant to join our team for part-time evening shifts. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals who have a deep love for cats and are looking to gain experience in animal care. As a Cattery Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the comfort, health, and happiness of our feline guests. Your responsibilities will include feeding, cleaning, monitoring behavior, and providing affection to all cats in our care during the evening hours. This role requires reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment for our furry friends.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily feeding and fresh water to all cats according to established schedules and dietary needs.
- Clean and sanitize cat enclosures, litter boxes, and common cattery areas thoroughly and regularly.
- Monitor cats for any signs of illness, injury, or behavioral changes and report observations to senior staff.
- Administer medications as directed by veterinary staff, ensuring accurate dosages and timing.
- Engage with cats through play, petting, and gentle handling to provide mental and physical stimulation.
- Maintain accurate records of feeding, cleaning, and any health-related observations.
- Restock supplies such as food, litter, and cleaning products.
- Ensure the cattery environment remains clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Assist with client communication regarding their cat's stay as needed.
Required Skills
- Genuine love and compassion for animals, especially cats.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work evening shifts and weekends as required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Capable of performing physical tasks including lifting up to 30 lbs, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with animals (volunteer or paid) is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of basic cat behavior and health indicators.
- Comfortable handling cats of various temperaments.
