Job Description

The RAND Corporation is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Think Tank Aide to join our dynamic research team in Arlington, VA. This role is crucial in supporting our senior researchers and policy analysts in conducting impactful, evidence-based research. The successful candidate will contribute to various projects by assisting with data collection, literature reviews, report preparation, and administrative tasks. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist researchers with data collection, entry, and basic analysis tasks, ensuring accuracy and integrity of information.
  • Conduct thorough literature reviews and summarize key findings relevant to ongoing policy and research projects.
  • Prepare and format research reports, presentations, and policy briefs, adhering to RAND's quality and style guidelines.
  • Manage project-related documentation, including data files, source materials, and correspondence, ensuring accessibility and organization.
  • Coordinate logistics for internal and external meetings, workshops, and research events, including scheduling and material preparation.
  • Perform various administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing travel arrangements, and processing expense reports.
  • Support communication efforts by drafting correspondence, updating project websites, and maintaining professional contact lists.

Required Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, especially in data handling and document preparation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for creating and managing documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as an integral part of a diverse team.
  • Demonstrated interest in public policy, research, social sciences, or a related analytical field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Economics, Public Policy, International Relations, Sociology, or a closely related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with basic research methodologies, statistical concepts, or qualitative data analysis techniques.
  • Experience using academic databases, library research tools, or specialized research software.
  • Previous internship or work experience in a research institution, government agency, non-profit organization, or academic setting.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new software and research tools.
