Job Description
Are you passionate about the art and science of winemaking? The Boston Beer Company is seeking a diligent and enthusiastic Grape Press Assistant to join our innovative team with a focus on vineyard and winery operations. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals eager to learn the foundational processes of grape pressing and wine production within a dynamic and supportive environment. As a Grape Press Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the initial stages of transforming grapes into exceptional wines, contributing directly to the quality and character of our exciting new ventures. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a state-of-the-art facility, working alongside experienced professionals in the beverage industry. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in viticulture and enology.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain grape pressing equipment under supervision.
- Assist with grape sorting, destemming, and crushing processes.
- Monitor press cycles and ensure optimal juice extraction.
- Clean and sanitize all production equipment, tanks, and work areas thoroughly.
- Perform basic quality control checks on grape must and juice.
- Support vineyard team with grape harvesting and transport as needed.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and hygiene standards in the winery.
- Assist with other general winery tasks as required.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with varying temperatures.
- Basic understanding of hygiene and safety principles.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a winery, brewery, or food production environment.
- Knowledge of viticulture or enology principles.
- Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
