Job Description
Are you looking for an active, rewarding weekend job that doubles as a great workout? Greenspace Landscaping is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Turf Layer Assistants to join our crew for weekend projects in Centretown, Ottawa. This part-time role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, are physically fit, and thrive in a team environment. No prior experience in turf laying is necessary; we provide on-the-job training for motivated candidates ready to learn and contribute.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of ground surfaces for turf installation, including grading and soil amendment.
- Participate in the efficient and careful laying of sod rolls or sheets according to project specifications.
- Support the team in cutting and shaping turf to fit intricate landscape designs.
- Help with post-installation tasks such as watering and rolling new turf.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including proper handling of tools and materials.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure timely project completion.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and procedures at all times.
- Perform other manual labor tasks as required to support landscaping projects.
Required Skills
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
- Reliability and punctuality for scheduled weekend shifts.
- Ability to work effectively outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in general labor or outdoor work is an asset but not required.
- Valid G driver's license with a clean driving record.
- First Aid and CPR certification (an advantage).
