Job Description
Are you passionate about languages and dedicated to supporting young learners? Chegg is seeking an enthusiastic and empathetic Online Translation Aide to assist 16-year-old teens with their language learning and translation needs across various subjects. This is a unique opportunity to make a direct impact on students’ educational journeys by facilitating communication and comprehension in a diverse range of languages, all from the comfort of your home. This position is 100% remote, offering flexible hours to fit your schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide real-time translation assistance to 16-year-old students for academic content, assignments, and study materials.
- Support students in understanding complex concepts presented in different languages.
- Assist with proofreading and editing translated texts to ensure accuracy and clarity.
- Facilitate communication between students and educators when language barriers arise.
- Maintain a supportive, patient, and encouraging online environment for all students.
- Adhere to confidentiality and privacy policies regarding student information and interactions.
- Utilize online tools and platforms effectively for communication and translation tasks.
Required Skills
- Exceptional fluency in English and at least two other major languages (e.g., Spanish, French, German, Mandarin, Arabic, Japanese, etc.).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in all proficient languages.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a patient and empathetic approach to guiding young learners.
- Proficiency in using online communication and collaboration tools.
- Reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace conducive to online support.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- High level of cultural sensitivity and understanding.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in translation, tutoring, or mentoring young adults (ages 13-18).
- Certification in translation or interpreting from a recognized institution.
- Familiarity with various academic subjects (e.g., science, history, literature).
- Experience with specialized translation software or CAT tools (Computer-Assisted Translation).
- A bachelor's degree in linguistics, education, or a related field.
