Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Order Picker Forklift Driver to join our distribution center team in Virginia Beach, VA. This combined skilled role requires proficiency in operating various types of forklifts (including reach trucks, stand-up forklifts, and order pickers) to efficiently and accurately pick, stage, and load products for delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and teamwork, playing a crucial role in ensuring our customers receive their orders on time and in perfect condition. This is an on-site position vital to our daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate various material handling equipment, including order pickers, reach trucks, and stand-up forklifts, safely and efficiently.
- Accurately pick products from warehouse locations using RF scanners or voice picking systems, ensuring correct quantities and product codes.
- Stage picked orders in designated areas for loading, verifying order completeness and accuracy.
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring proper weight distribution and secure placement of goods.
- Perform daily equipment checks and minor maintenance (e.g., battery checks) on forklifts.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts as needed.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or damaged products to supervision promptly.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimize workflow and meet daily productivity goals.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating an order picker, reach truck, and/or stand-up forklift in a warehouse environment.
- Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
- Proficiency with RF scanners or voice picking systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order picking and staging.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs consistently and perform physical tasks associated with warehouse work.
- Excellent understanding of warehouse safety protocols and best practices.
- Reliable transportation and ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays if required.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Familiarity with food service distribution or perishable goods handling.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding productivity targets.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
