Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Automotive Design Engineer to join our innovative team in Leominster, MA. This role is crucial for designing and developing cutting-edge automotive components and systems for our diverse portfolio of global clients. You will be instrumental in all phases of product development, from concept generation and detailed design to validation and production support. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in mechanical design principles, CAD software proficiency, and a passion for the automotive industry. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop automotive components and systems using CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, NX).
- Conduct feasibility studies, concept generation, and detailed design activities.
- Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to ensure design integrity and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and supply chain, to ensure seamless product development.
- Prepare and present technical documentation, including design specifications, drawings, and reports.
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Support prototyping, testing, and validation efforts.
- Identify and implement design improvements for cost reduction, weight savings, and performance optimization.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in at least one major CAD software (CATIA, SolidWorks, NX).
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, material science, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with CAE tools (e.g., ABAQUS, ANSYS, LS-DYNA) for simulation and analysis.
- Knowledge of automotive industry standards and regulations (e.g., FMVSS, ECE).
- Familiarity with DFMEA and DFM principles.
- Experience in design for manufacturing (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
