Job Description
Join Grimmway Farms as a Seasonal Agricultural Hauler during our peak harvest season in the Central Valley region. This critical role involves the safe and efficient transportation of agricultural products from fields to processing facilities or storage locations. You will operate heavy agricultural vehicles and trucks, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to all safety regulations. This is a fast-paced, demanding, yet rewarding position vital to the success of our harvest operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain various agricultural hauling vehicles, including semi-trucks with trailers, to transport harvested crops.
- Safely load and unload agricultural products, often requiring coordination with field crews and processing plant personnel.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment; report any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company safety policies, and agricultural transportation guidelines.
- Maintain accurate logbooks and delivery records, including hours of service and mileage.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, field supervisors, and processing staff to ensure smooth logistics.
- Work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by harvest schedules.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles.
- Proficiency in performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience hauling agricultural commodities.
- Familiarity with the Central Valley agricultural landscape and major transportation routes.
- Experience operating various types of heavy equipment or farm machinery.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle adjustments or troubleshooting.
