Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Orthodontic Aide with a Specialist Health focus to join our dynamic dental team in West Covina, CA. This role is crucial in supporting our orthodontists and ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care within a state-of-the-art clinical environment. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in preparing patients, sterilizing instruments, assisting during procedures, and maintaining an organized and efficient orthodontic practice. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for orthodontic treatment, including seating, draping, and explaining procedures.
- Assist orthodontists during a variety of procedures, including bracket placement, adjustments, and debonding.
- Perform sterilization and disinfection of instruments and equipment in accordance with strict infection control protocols.
- Take, develop, and mount dental radiographs (X-rays) as instructed by the orthodontist.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including charting treatment progress and updating medical histories.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-procedure care, and orthodontic appliance maintenance.
- Manage inventory of orthodontic supplies and materials, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Provide chairside assistance, anticipating the needs of the orthodontist during treatment.
- Prepare and mix dental materials, such as cements and impression materials, as required.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of treatment rooms and the overall clinical area.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of 1 year (12 months) of experience as a Dental Assistant, preferably in an orthodontic setting.
- Proficiency in taking and developing dental radiographs.
- Knowledge of dental terminology and basic dental procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license in California.
- Experience with specific orthodontic software (e.g., Dolphin Imaging, OrthoTrac).
- Bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish).
- Certification in coronal polishing and sealants.
