Job Description

Are you ready to kickstart your career in the automotive service industry? Mr. Lube in Halifax is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as a Lube Shop Assistant. This is an entry-level, full-time position where no prior experience is required – we provide comprehensive, hands-on training to get you up to speed. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform oil changes and fluid checks (transmission fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid, etc.) under supervision.
  • Inspect and top off various vehicle fluids and components.
  • Conduct basic vehicle inspections including tire pressure, wiper blades, and lights.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the service bays and customer waiting area.
  • Assist senior technicians with various tasks as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, explaining services performed and recommending future maintenance.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Operate shop equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Learn and utilize Mr. Lube's proprietary service procedures and systems.

Required Skills

  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude or a strong interest in automotive care.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Valid Class 5 Nova Scotia Driver's License (or equivalent) is preferred for moving customer vehicles on-site.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service role.
  • Familiarity with automotive tools and equipment (even personal experience).
  • Certification in automotive basics or related vocational training.
