Job Description
Are you ready to kickstart your career in the automotive service industry? Mr. Lube in Halifax is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as a Lube Shop Assistant. This is an entry-level, full-time position where no prior experience is required – we provide comprehensive, hands-on training to get you up to speed. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy working with a team, and have a keen interest in cars, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
Key Responsibilities
- Perform oil changes and fluid checks (transmission fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid, etc.) under supervision.
- Inspect and top off various vehicle fluids and components.
- Conduct basic vehicle inspections including tire pressure, wiper blades, and lights.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the service bays and customer waiting area.
- Assist senior technicians with various tasks as needed.
- Communicate effectively with customers, explaining services performed and recommending future maintenance.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Operate shop equipment safely and efficiently.
- Learn and utilize Mr. Lube's proprietary service procedures and systems.
Required Skills
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic mechanical aptitude or a strong interest in automotive care.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in various weather conditions.
- Valid Class 5 Nova Scotia Driver's License (or equivalent) is preferred for moving customer vehicles on-site.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Familiarity with automotive tools and equipment (even personal experience).
- Certification in automotive basics or related vocational training.
