Job Description
Join UPS as an Intercity Coach Driver and become an integral part of our dynamic logistics network. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of goods across designated intercity routes, ensuring the efficient movement of packages and freight. Key Responsibilities
- Operate commercial vehicles safely and efficiently over intercity routes, adhering to all traffic laws and UPS policies.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects or issues immediately.
- Ensure timely delivery and pickup of freight, managing schedules effectively to meet service commitments.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery logs.
- Adhere to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards.
- Handle freight with care, ensuring proper loading, securing, and unloading procedures are followed.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, operations staff, and other team members.
- Represent UPS professionally at all times while on the road and at customer locations.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger endorsement (or ability to obtain).
- Clean driving record with no major accidents or violations.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Proficient knowledge of DOT regulations and safety protocols.
- Strong navigational skills and ability to use GPS/mapping systems.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 70 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience, preferably in an intercity or long-haul capacity.
- Experience operating various types of commercial vehicles.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor vehicle checks.
