Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Permanent Wave Specialist to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring stylist eager to specialize in modern texture techniques. If you have a foundational understanding of hair chemistry and styling and a passion for creating beautiful, long-lasting waves and curls, we want to hear from you. You will work alongside experienced professionals, receive hands-on training, and help clients achieve their desired hair texture, transforming their look with precision and artistry.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform permanent wave services, including traditional perms, digital perms, and texture enhancements, under the guidance of senior stylists.
- Assist senior stylists with client consultations to understand hair history, desired outcomes, and recommend appropriate perm techniques.
- Prepare clients for perm services, including shampooing, conditioning, and sectioning hair.
- Apply perming solutions and neutralizers with precision and care, monitoring processing times.
- Educate clients on post-perm care and recommend suitable retail products to maintain their new texture.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Stay updated on new perm techniques, products, and industry trends through continuous learning and salon training.
- Provide exceptional customer service and contribute to a positive salon atmosphere.
Required Skills
- Valid Cosmetology license in Ontario.
- Basic understanding of hair structure, chemistry, and perming techniques (learned during schooling).
- Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine passion for hair styling and texture services.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience (even as an apprentice or intern) specifically assisting with perm or chemical texture services.
- Portfolio showcasing any styling work or school projects related to hair texture.
- Fluency in additional languages is a plus.
