Job Description
Are you passionate about environmental sustainability and eager to learn new skills? Republic Services is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Compost Facility Operators. No prior experience is required, as we provide comprehensive training on heavy machinery operation and composting processes. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a vital environmental service, turning organic waste into valuable compost.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery such as loaders, excavators, and screeners to manage and process organic materials.
- Monitor compost piles for temperature, moisture, and aeration to ensure optimal decomposition.
- Perform routine visual inspections and basic maintenance on equipment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist with sorting incoming organic waste and preparing it for composting.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the compost facility.
- Record daily operational data and report any equipment malfunctions or process deviations.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform strenuous tasks.
- Strong work ethic and a desire to learn new skills.
- Commitment to safety and environmental best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience operating any type of heavy machinery (e.g., farm equipment, forklifts) is a plus, but not required.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor equipment checks.
- Knowledge of composting principles or waste management practices.
