Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and compassionate Porter to join our dedicated team at our luxury nursing home in Exeter. In this pivotal role, you will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our facility, providing essential support services that contribute to a quiet, comfortable, and dignified environment for our residents. This role requires attention to detail, a respectful demeanor, and a commitment to upholding our high standards of care and service. A uniform will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of communal areas, corridors, and resident rooms (as directed).
  • Assist with the movement of furniture, equipment, and supplies throughout the facility.
  • Handle deliveries and distribute incoming goods to appropriate departments.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks and report any significant repairs needed to the maintenance team.
  • Ensure the safe disposal of waste, following all health and safety guidelines.
  • Support residents with their personal belongings, respecting their privacy and dignity.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to requests from residents and staff members.
  • Assist with setting up and clearing down for activities and events.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
  • Maintain a quiet and respectful presence within the home, minimizing disruption to residents.

  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving items.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a care home, hotel, or similar service environment.
  • Basic knowledge of minor maintenance tasks.
  • Full UK driving license (desirable but not essential).
