Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and physically capable individuals to join our team as a Turf Laying Helper for weekend projects. This is a hands-on, physically demanding role perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors and contributing to the beautification of commercial and residential properties. You will work as part of a dedicated crew, assisting with all aspects of turf installation. This position offers flexible weekend hours and a chance to learn valuable skills in the landscaping industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of ground surfaces for turf installation, including grading and soil amendment.
- Unload, transport, and lay sod/turf rolls or pieces according to specific patterns and instructions.
- Operate basic hand tools such as shovels, rakes, and wheelbarrows effectively and safely.
- Help with site cleanup and organization, including removing debris and excess materials.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Work collaboratively with team members to complete projects efficiently and to high standards.
- Ensure proper watering and initial care of newly laid turf.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and reliability, especially for weekend commitments.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures or willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in landscaping, construction, or a similar physical labor role.
- Familiarity with turf laying techniques.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
