Job Description
Are you a high school student looking for your first job experience? ShopRite in Yonkers is excited to offer a Part-Time High School Cashier position with 100% training provided on our registers! This is an excellent opportunity to develop essential customer service skills, learn about retail operations, and become a valued member of our team. Key Responsibilities
- Operate cash registers accurately and efficiently, handling all transactions including cash, credit/debit cards, and electronic payments.
- Greet customers warmly and provide excellent customer service, answering questions and assisting with their shopping experience.
- Scan groceries and other merchandise, ensuring all items are correctly priced and bagged.
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area.
- Assist with stocking shelves and other light duties during slower periods.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including those related to age-restricted sales.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth store operations.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in high school or recently graduated.
- Ability to learn and operate a point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic math skills for handling transactions.
- Previous experience in a customer service role (volunteer work included).
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
