Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented DME (Medical Equipment) Pharmacy Tech to join our home care team in Sugar Land, TX. In this vital role, you will be responsible for processing, preparing, and managing durable medical equipment orders, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery to our patients. You will also play a key role in patient education, ensuring they understand how to properly use and maintain their equipment. Key Responsibilities
- Process DME orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete.
- Maintain strict compliance with all regulatory requirements including HIPAA, FDA, and state pharmacy board regulations.
- Provide comprehensive patient education on the proper use, maintenance, and safety of durable medical equipment.
- Manage and organize inventory of DME supplies and equipment, including tracking, ordering, and receiving.
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers to coordinate care and resolve issues.
- Prepare and package equipment for delivery or pickup, ensuring all items are clean, functional, and correctly labeled.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation within our electronic systems.
- Assist with equipment calibration, cleaning, and minor troubleshooting as needed.
Required Skills
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification or equivalent state licensure.
- Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and healthcare providers.
- Proficiency in pharmacy software and standard computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting, with a focus on DME or home health.
- Familiarity with insurance billing, prior authorization processes, and reimbursement for durable medical equipment.
- Bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English) is a significant advantage.
- Experience with inventory management systems specific to medical equipment.
