Job Description

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a highly motivated Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced hospital setting in Santa Clara. This full-time position offers an immediate start for individuals ready to provide essential direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. As a PCT, you will play a crucial role in supporting patient well-being, ensuring comfort, and assisting with daily living activities. Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility.
- Measure and record vital signs, intake and output, and other patient data accurately.
- Document patient observations and care provided in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Assist nurses with medical procedures, examinations, and specimen collection as directed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient environment.
- Respond to patient calls and requests promptly and courteously.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
- Transport patients, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform basic patient care tasks
- Strong observational and documentation skills
- Empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to patient care
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and assist patients with mobility
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or equivalent experience
- Previous experience as a PCT, CNA, or in a similar role in an acute care setting
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems (e.g., Epic)
- Knowledge of medical terminology
