Job Description

Join AdventHealth as a Music Therapy Assistant and embark on a fulfilling career where your passion for music can make a profound difference in patients’ lives. This entry-level position requires no prior experience in music therapy; comprehensive training will be provided to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel. You will work under the supervision of a certified Music Therapist, assisting in the delivery of therapeutic music interventions to patients across various departments, including rehabilitation, behavioral health, and palliative care. This role is perfect for compassionate individuals with a strong interest in healthcare and music, eager to learn and contribute to a supportive, healing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist certified Music Therapists in planning and implementing individualized and group music therapy sessions.
  • Prepare session materials and equipment, ensuring a therapeutic and safe environment for patients.
  • Engage patients in musical activities such such as singing, instrument playing, rhythmic exercises, and guided listening.
  • Document patient participation and progress during sessions, reporting observations to the supervising Music Therapist.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients, fostering a positive and engaging experience.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of music therapy instruments and supplies.
  • Adhere to all AdventHealth policies, procedures, and patient confidentiality guidelines.
