Job Description
Join Emanate Health as a Part-Time Parish Nurse, playing a pivotal role in our Community & Church Outreach program in West Covina, CA. This unique position bridges the gap between healthcare and faith communities, providing health education, basic health screenings, advocacy, and spiritual support within a church or community setting. You will be instrumental in promoting wellness, preventing illness, and facilitating access to healthcare resources for underserved populations. This role requires a compassionate Registered Nurse with a strong commitment to community health and a desire to serve in a faith-based outreach capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide health education on various topics including chronic disease management, preventive care, nutrition, and mental health.
- Conduct basic health screenings such as blood pressure, glucose, and weight checks within community and church settings.
- Act as a health advocate, assisting individuals and families in navigating the healthcare system and accessing necessary resources.
- Offer spiritual care and emotional support, respecting diverse faith traditions and personal beliefs.
- Collaborate with church leadership, community organizations, and Emanate Health staff to identify community health needs and develop targeted programs.
- Document patient interactions and program activities accurately and maintain confidentiality.
- Participate in regular team meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Facilitate referrals to Emanate Health services and other community resources as appropriate.
Required Skills
- Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience.
- Strong understanding of community health principles and preventive care.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within diverse community settings.
- Demonstrated empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a non-judgmental approach.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Previous experience in community health, public health, or faith community nursing.
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of local community resources in the West Covina area.
- Experience in health education program development and delivery.
