Job Description
Join FedEx Freight as a Night Owl Linehaul Driver and become a critical part of our extensive transportation network. This full-time position offers significant opportunities for professional growth and competitive pay, including a high night differential to compensate for working overnight hours. As a linehaul driver, you will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of freight between service centers, primarily operating during nighttime hours. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a tractor-trailer combination, primarily during night shifts, adhering to all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Transport freight efficiently between FedEx Freight service centers and designated locations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, ensuring everything is in good working order.
- Complete and maintain accurate electronic logs and required paperwork, including manifests and dispatch records.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies, reporting any incidents or concerns immediately.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, operations, and other team members regarding route status, delays, and issues.
- Maneuver vehicles in various weather and road conditions, ensuring secure and on-time deliveries.
- Monitor vehicle performance and conduct minor roadside repairs if necessary.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance of the vehicle.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazmat, Tanker, and Doubles/Triples endorsements.
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of verifiable commercial driving experience in a tractor-trailer.
- Clean driving record with no major preventable accidents or violations in the last 3 years.
- Ability to operate a manual transmission.
- Demonstrated knowledge of DOT regulations and hours of service.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, bending, and climbing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LTL freight transportation.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Experience driving in various climates and challenging weather conditions.
