Job Description

Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Anesthesiologist to join our dynamic team. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care for adult and pediatric patients undergoing various surgical, obstetric, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Conduct thorough pre-anesthetic assessments, formulate individualized anesthetic plans, and obtain informed consent.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses throughout procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Manage acute and chronic pain, including post-operative pain management.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and emergency services as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Engage in continuing medical education and professional development activities.

Required Skills

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of an Anesthesiology residency program.
  • Certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) or eligibility for certification.
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
  • Demonstrated expertise in a broad range of anesthetic techniques.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to patient safety and evidence-based practice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Subspecialty training or fellowship in a relevant area (e.g., Cardiac Anesthesia, Pediatric Anesthesia, Pain Management).
  • Experience in an academic hospital setting.
  • Record of participation in quality improvement or research initiatives.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
