Job Description
Are you a compassionate individual looking for a fulfilling role where you can make a genuine difference in someone’s life? Home Instead Cambridge is seeking dedicated Elderly Companions to provide non-medical support and companionship to our clients in their own homes. This flexible social role focuses on enhancing the quality of life for older adults through meaningful engagement and practical assistance, without any medical duties. We’re looking for warm-hearted individuals who enjoy building relationships and bringing joy to others. No previous experience is required as full training is provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Engaging in stimulating conversation and social activities.
- Assisting with hobbies and interests.
- Accompanying clients on outings, appointments, or walks.
- Preparing light meals and snacks.
- Performing light housekeeping tasks (e.g., tidying, laundry).
- Running errands such as grocery shopping or picking up prescriptions.
- Providing reliable transport for appointments or social events (if comfortable and equipped).
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
- A valid UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle (preferred, but not always essential depending on client needs).
- Right to work in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a care or companionship role (personal or professional).
- Basic understanding of the needs of older adults.
- Local knowledge of Cambridge and surrounding areas.
- Willingness to undertake further training and development.
