Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine laboratory experiments and procedures following established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Prepare chemical reagents, solutions, and samples for experiments with precision and accuracy.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including calibration and troubleshooting minor issues.
- Collect, record, and organize experimental data accurately and systematically.
- Assist senior researchers and scientists with experimental design and data analysis.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
- Contribute to the inventory management of laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Adhere to all PNNL and Department of Energy safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to scientific discussions.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Material Science, Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- Basic understanding of laboratory safety practices and procedures.
- Proficiency with standard laboratory equipment (e.g., pipettes, balances, pH meters).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and record-keeping.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior hands-on experience in a research or academic laboratory setting (e.g., through coursework, internships, or volunteer work).
- Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Experience with data analysis software or statistical tools.
- Demonstrated ability to follow complex experimental protocols.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
