Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician II to join our team in New Port Richey, FL. This advanced role offers significant career progression opportunities for an experienced technician ready to take on greater responsibilities. You will play a critical role in supporting our pharmacists, ensuring efficient pharmacy operations, and providing exceptional patient care. You will be instrumental in maintaining high standards of medication safety, accuracy, and patient satisfaction, while also engaging in professional development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescription medications, including complex compounding tasks.
- Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating pharmaceutical supplies.
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing patient inquiries and resolving issues efficiently and courteously.
- Process insurance claims and assist patients with billing questions.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations.
- Train and mentor new or less experienced pharmacy technicians.
- Assist in managing workflow, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring timely completion of pharmacy operations.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and identify areas for operational improvement.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Pharmacist-in-Charge.
Required Skills
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification from PTCB or NHA.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with pharmacy software systems and electronic health records.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical terminology, calculations, and drug classifications.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-first approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced pharmacy technician certification (e.g., compounding, sterile products).
- Experience with inventory management systems and pharmacy automation.
- Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role.
- Associate's degree or higher in a related field.
- Bilingual skills (especially Spanish) are a plus.
