Job Description

SERVPRO of Paterson is seeking dedicated and resilient Hoarder House Cleaning Assistants to join our specialized team. This isn’t your average cleaning job – you’ll be tackling extreme clutter, biohazards, and deeply soiled environments, transforming challenging spaces into safe and livable homes. This role requires exceptional physical stamina, a strong stomach, and an unwavering commitment to making a tangible difference in people’s lives. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently remove large volumes of accumulated items, debris, and waste from hoarded properties.
- Sort items into categories (keep, donate, dispose) under supervision, demonstrating respect for client belongings.
- Perform deep cleaning and sanitization of affected areas, including walls, floors, ceilings, and fixtures.
- Operate specialized cleaning equipment and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Handle biohazardous materials and dispose of waste according to strict safety protocols.
- Assist with minor repairs or demolition tasks as needed to facilitate cleaning and restoration.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure project goals are met.
- Adhere to all company safety guidelines and industry best practices.
- Maintain a compassionate and non-judgmental attitude towards clients.
Required Skills
- Exceptional physical stamina and ability to perform strenuous manual labor for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
- Comfortable working in challenging, often unsanitary, and confined environments.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and willingness to wear required PPE.
- A compassionate and respectful demeanor.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in cleaning, construction, junk removal, or restoration services.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience with biohazard cleanup protocols.
