Job Description

This non-clinical position is perfect for someone who is reliable, physically able, and committed to supporting the smooth operation of our hospitals. As a Hospital Porter, you will play a crucial role in patient comfort and logistical support, ensuring that everything and everyone is where they need to be, safely and efficiently. No prior experience is required; we provide comprehensive training to ensure your success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients via wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds between departments (e.g., from wards to X-ray, surgery, or discharge areas).
  • Assist patients with mobility as required, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
  • Transport equipment, specimens, blood products, and supplies throughout the hospital.
  • Deliver mail, packages, and other items to designated areas.
  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of items and information.
  • Clean and maintain transportation equipment regularly.
  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols, infection control practices, and hospital policies.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, and staff members.
  • Respond promptly to requests and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Support the overall flow and efficiency of hospital operations.

Required Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to push, pull, lift, and stand for extended periods.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Basic problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a customer service role.
  • Experience working in a healthcare or public-facing environment.
  • Knowledge of basic first aid or CPR.
  • Ability to speak additional languages.
